Calgary to Welcome Over 7,000 Geologists in June

Returning for the first time in 10 years, Meetings + Conventions Calgary is pleased to announce Calgary as the host city for the American Association of Petroleum Geologists 2016 Annual Convention & Exhibition (ACE).  Occurring June 19-22, 2016, the ACE 2016 technical program has received a record number of abstracts, up six percent from the 2015 event.

The Calgary conference is poised to be one of their best, boasting superior content quality. “For the very first time the Technical Program Committee accepted less than half of the abstracts submitted, which speaks not only to the record number received but also their overall superior quality,” said ACE 2016 Committee General Chair Paul MacKay.

A global energy centre, Calgary has a strong contingent of local geoscientists, who will welcome over 6,000 of their colleagues from over 72 countries for ACE 2016.

Founded in 1917, the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG) is the premiere global organization for petroleum exploration with over 42,500 members in 129 countries. The original purpose of AAPG – to foster scientific research, to advance the science of geology, to promote technology, and to inspire high professional conduct – still guides the Association today. AAPG provides publications, conferences, and educational opportunities to geoscientists and disseminates the most current geological information available to the general public.
